We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Digital Matter, a global leader in GPS and IoT hardware development. Since 2001, Digital Matter has been supplying reliable and secure devices for many of the world’s largest asset tracking companies, enterprises, and network operators across all verticals.

Digital Matter’s Oyster 2

We have been fans of Digital Matter’s GPS and IoT devices for some time, and are incredibly excited that The People’s Network has become their network of choice for asset tracking.

Utilizing The People’s Network, Digital Matter tracks parameters like location, accelerometer, movement settings, after-hours alerts, and more — with the ability for customers to customize how their tracking device functions on a case-by-case basis, all configured over-the-air (OTA).

“Partnering with Helium helped to dissolve many of the technical and financial barriers encountered when setting up LPWA networks for asset tracking applications,” said Matthew Hofmeyr, Vice President, Sales North America, Digital Matter. “With Helium, we now have a reliable and secure, out-of-the-box connectivity solution that our channel partners, businesses, and consumers can deploy quickly and easily, substantially accelerating time to market.”

We’re excited about this partnership for a variety of reasons. Most obvious, it will create new opportunities for product development and increase the number of devices running on The People’s Network. As our community continues to build network coverage, the supply side, increasing the number of compatible devices supports the demand side of our incentive model. The more devices on the Network, the more HNT burned to create Data Credits for usage. And the more HNT burned, the more demand for it, ultimately compelling more people to join in and grow this decentralized Network over time. This is a powerful and virtuous cycle, and it’s just getting started.
