The team is excited to announce Microsoft Azure IoT Hub as the newest addition to Helium Console Integrations! As the world’s largest contiguous wireless network, with over 194,000 Hotspots in over 17,000 cities and 130 countries, the Helium Network now provides Azure users with an easy and secure way to send their IoT data to the Azure IoT Hub.

Azure IoT Hub acts as Microsoft’s cloud-hosted central hub for communications between IoT applications and their end device, allowing users to authenticate devices for enhanced security, automate device provisioning to accelerate IoT deployment, and more.

IoT Hub is used and trusted by companies of all sizes, including:

  • Maersk, using IoT technology to transport goods all across the world
  • Ecolab, utilizing IoT data to help solve global water challenges
  • Texa, using collected IoT data from connected cars to help vehicle owners save on costs and driving performance

With its rapid growth, the Helium Network is expanding coverage and enabling new IoT solutions and use cases, such as smart water monitoring, smart agriculture, and environmental monitoring, every day, with a cost of only $1 per sensor per year (for a device sending data every 5 minutes). Helium Console provides Network users with a simple yet powerful tool to accelerate moving data from IoT devices to chosen endpoints via Integrations. With Azure IoT Hub now featured as one of those Integrations, Azure users across the globe can utilize the Helium Network to quickly and securely send their IoT data to their Azure dashboards.

“By seamlessly integrating the Azure IoT platform with Helium, customers get easy access to the wide range of data and analytics services of Azure to create business value out of the captured sensor data. With Helium’s worldwide IoT network and Microsoft’s cloud services, customers get the perfect foundation for the implementation of their IoT use cases”

How to Set Up Azure IoT Hub on Console

Integrations on Helium Console enable devices to send data via pre-built Integrations or custom ones using HTTP or MQTT. You can read more about Integrations in the Helium Docs here.

The Azure IoT Hub Integration can be found on the “Integrations” page, accessed from the menu on the left-hand side of the Flows workspace. Once there, users can add a new Integration from the menu and choose Azure IoT Hub.

For more information on navigating Flows and adding Integrations, you can watch the Console Tips & Tricks video playlist here.

Important: When preparing to utilize the Azure IoT Hub on Helium Console, you will need to have the following IoT Hub information:

  • Hub Name
  • Policy Name
  • Primary Key

Once you have these details, follow the steps as outlined on the Azure IoT Docs page here to complete your setup.

After successfully configuring the Azure IoT Integration in Console, you will be able to view and utilize your data on the IoT Hub dashboard:

With this Integration now available on Console, Azure users around the world will be able to utilize the Helium Network to send and track IoT device data for their business and personal needs.
